Conservation and Eco Tourism at Colona Castle

• Grey Waters are separated and used to water the garden
• Kitchen waste waters are stored and used to water garden
• All light bulbs have been replaced with energy savers – Outside one have a sensor to switch on when it gets dark and off when it gets light
• Kitchen refuse is separated – recycled where necessary – green rubbish is used for compost
• Paper, newspapers and magazines are recycled
• All glass bottles are recycled
• Separate Air-conditioning unit for each Suite – always witched off when not needed
• On registration, we suggest to guests and visitors how to help us in our efforts to conserve energy (washing of bed linen, towels etc… - water and electricity conservation… humane tourism)
• Affiliation to Uthando South Africa project
• Training of staff on continuous basis
• Fair Trade practices with staff and suppliers
