Conservation and Eco Tourism at Colona Castle
- Grey Waters are separated and used to water the garden
- Kitchen waste waters are stored and used to water garden
- All light bulbs have been replaced with energy savers – Outside one have a sensor to switch on when it gets dark and off when it gets light
- Kitchen refuse is separated – recycled where necessary – green rubbish is used for compost
- Paper, newspapers and magazines are recycled
- All glass bottles are recycled
- Separate Air-conditioning unit for each Suite – always witched off when not needed
- On registration, we suggest to guests and visitors how to help us in our efforts to conserve energy (washing of bed linen, towels etc… - water and electricity conservation… humane tourism)
- Affiliation to Uthando South Africa project
- Training of staff on continuous basis
- Fair Trade practices with staff and suppliers
